It has always been known that we Kenyans love to party. This is evidenced by the number of night club events and parties that are organized in a span of one month. There is a constant range of things to do in any given weekend but that is not all there is to it.
Despite all the night life events that are happening, there is a new breed of events that have come up known as the social events. They mainly happen during the day and extend into the night and always encompass a theme of sorts. The Heineken Mingle for example is one of them and its main aim is to enhance daytime networking event that enables you to open up and meet new people through games and fun activities. Another example is Blankets and Wine which is an afro-based picnic styled music festival in East Africa designed to showcase genres of Afrocentric music.
This kind of events have come about due to the need for people to have a greater experiences and unforgettable moments at events apart from the regular drinking and partying till morning and that is the reason why they have taken over the country by storm. This goes to show that this kind of events is what we have needed all along; we just didn’t know it yet.
Events like The Circle and Cheza Festival have also joined the space and many of us are curious and eager to see how far the social events are going to grow and the new concepts that are going to be developed. All in all, it’s definitely going to be an exciting ride!
