Gigwapi is an online place where you discover fun things to do around the country. We offer listing services for events, hangout joints, nightlife and other fun activities like rugby or football matches, kids and family activities over the week or weekend. The company website is www. gigwapi.com and has additional information.
When was it launched and where?
We had a soft launch Feb 2013 at the Nailab where we are currently being incubated as a startup company.
Who are its founders?
The founders for Gigwapi are three of us namely Charles Kinyanjui who is the CEO of the company, Erick Waithaka who deals with the operations of the company and Christine Miricho who deals with all the marketing side of the business. We are all recent graduates of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
What inspired you?
The idea was conceived while we were still in campus and we were looking for happy hours specials (smiles). We realized that there is no central place where people can go to check out what’s happening, where and at what cost and that is where it all started and thus we started a Facebook and Twitter pages named Happyhour Kenya in April 2012 which we later changed to Gigwapi after securing incubation at the Nailab.
