Woke up from a dream with William Ruto , we had met for lunch near the KCPU building – it’s an old Government building near bus station – then he asked me if I needed anything and before I could say $10 Million , I suddenly woke. Darn you dream god! that was my moment you took away. The second thing on my mind coincidentally was the blog I had promised you yesterday on the follow up to the creative event marketing Blue Moon Vodka is experimenting with.

I have never lived in Eastlands so I always have a hard time travelling there, you don’t know exactly where to alight or where to board the next Matatu, everything’s changes as darkness creeps in. Therefore it not my favourite place to visit especially when I’m alone at night, but for this event I needed to, I needed to see if this new strategy is working. So I made my way to the party venue, a back alley will hundreds of mini bars to this dim lit – graphiti on the wall sheesha place. Its well set up, the perfect hangout place for young 23ish guys. The party is yet to start , only 8 guys have arrived out of the expected 30 , the organiser starts to get worried that I’m there and the party doesn’t seems like will start anytime soon. Frantically he starts calling the guys, who he explains they ate late because they are sceptical of the whole arrangement- I don’t blame them, it’s not any other day we see a corporate sponsoring friends parties. A few calls go out and before you know it the crew starts arriving 30 minutes later everyone is there. It’s now about 10:30 pm.
Folks from BlueMoon have already dropped of the sponsorship itinerary, 2 cases of Bluemoon, bought enough Nyama, kwa Kamau wa Nyama, Cool Bluemoon merchandise and have left. They don’t want to interfere with the natural flow of things, which is quite brilliant, let the kids do what they do, the only other non- related guy there is Bluemoon’s professional photographer and I. Myself I’m just there on an observatory role so I’m barely involved in the party. Keeping to my phone.
As soon as the party takes off the overlooking revellers also want to join in, which is what as a marketer you would want to happen. Ignite the fire and let the fuel propel everything. By the time I decide to leave and I’m sure I have collected enough data; the guys suggest we take a selfie. I know those were among the things KOT said we should leave in 2014 but I couldn’t say no to drunk 23 old drunk fellas in their back yard. So one the lad talks my phone and starts taking selfies. Don’t mind the quality coz the overall outcome was they made BlueMoon Vodka cool again.
